Sleep hygiene…yep, it’s a thing

I had never heard of ‘Sleep hygiene’ until last night in my trauma sensitive yoga teacher training class! Sleep hygiene refers to sleep habits like:

– Going to sleep at the same time each night

– Waking at the same time

– Being warm and comfortable

– Winding down before sleep

– Removing all tech devices from your bedroom before sleep

– Avoiding physical activity before bed

– Adopting practices that help to wind down like Yin Yoga and meditation/journaling

Sleep hygiene is about fostering healthy habits that support mental health and wellness. How interesting! And on that note, I am going to wish for you to also foster healthy sleep hygiene habits above, incorporate relaxing yin yoga and meditation habits….and I will switch off my tech devices so that I also practice what I preach!
