Listen to your body and rest

What is your body telling you? Do you listen to the whispers of your muscles that may be saying — ‘Move it!’ or perhaps…’Time to rest!’

Your girl is recovering after COVID-19! I have so many great blog post ideas and information to share, but that truly feels like it has gone by the wayside as I have unexpectedly gotten COVID-19 and my productivity has dropped like you wouldn’t believe. I don’t know why I was so shocked to be COVID-19 positive, we are in a pandemic after all. Yes, on the 20th March I tested positive for COVID-19 and isolated for 8 days. I have since tested negative and out in the wild again, but my goodness, it has knocked the wind out of my sails in terms of fatigue.

Recovering has meant that I am not going to the gym 3 x a week or running up a mountain or getting into hot yoga! My mind is willing, and my body is going ‘Girl, slow down.’….I was ignoring what my body was saying, but ended up being more tired. In the spirit of healing, I want to share with you my lessons that have come through over the past 3 weeks, and the big one is to rest!

Here are my lessons from COVID-19

  • Your body has innate wisdom and intelligence and when there is DIS-ease in the body or mind, allow your amazing immune system to the do work while you support yourself…and rest. Listen, feel and respond to your amazing body, mind and spirit.
  • Drink tonnes of water! Flush your system, flush, flush, flush.
  • Practice your breathing exercises. Knowing how to meditate and breathe has been incredible for me, during these moments of illness and anxiety, I have been able to recognise when I am starting to freak out (racing heart, shallow breath, lack of clarity with thoughts, constant scrolling online) and been able to guide myself back to a neutral state. Here are breathing exercises and meditation you can start with.
  • Count your blessings. An attitude of gratitude truly has been life changing for me. In the midst of my illness and feeling like absolute shit, I was so grateful to be healing and also so thankful for friends and family who continuously checked in on me and dropped of food and drinks for me, and rapid antigen tests. This buoyed me and I felt and am very loved. 🙂 I am so grateful for this beautiful community of people around me here in Brisbane and Tasmania who hold me and also abroad in PNG and even further abroad in Canada and U.K.

Here’s to healing and rest!

Please take good care of yourself during this COVID-19 time.

With love,

Roxy xoxo
